Summary

At this high school, instead of jocks and nerds, the students are divided into predators and prey。

At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, friendships maintain the fragile peace。 Who among them will become a Beastar—a hero destined to lead in a society naturally rife with mistrust?

The epic battles for supremacy in the black market lead to a revolution for carnivores and herbivores alike。 Mixed-species psychopath Melon finds a new target for his rage。 And in the bittersweet conclusion, Beastar horse Yahya and Komodo dragon Gosha attempt to repair their friendship, red deer Louis and gray wolf Juno seek a way forward, and gray wolf Legoshi and dwarf rabbit Haru define their relationship on their own terms。

weak ending book wasn’t a fan of the whole haru romance after like the first 3 books so it felt soforced at the end with legoshi and her。 other than that… phenomenal series overall and it’s amazing how this is itigaki’s first manga series really well done and will definitely go on my top manga series list。I’ll miss beastars might read beast complex because i loved this world。

I'm rating the series as a whole not this individual volume。 What keeps this from a 5 is a couple of volumes near the end of the series。 I think after the main mystery of who killed Tem was solved my interest in the series waned at times。 BEASTARS was still good, I'd read it again。 I'm not sure if I will get my own copies unless they make a box set for the series。 I'm rating the series as a whole not this individual volume。 What keeps this from a 5 is a couple of volumes near the end of the series。 I think after the main mystery of who killed Tem was solved my interest in the series waned at times。 BEASTARS was still good, I'd read it again。 I'm not sure if I will get my own copies unless they make a box set for the series。 。。。more

I enjoyed reading this series and will definitely keep an eye on more from this author。This series has 22 volumes。 。。。more

This manga never really went anywhere or did anything interesting with many of its plot lines。 I did like how weird it was, but。。。bummer that it devolved into a lot of fight scenes that made no sense。

things in this happened pretty super fast, wish we could’ve taken our time with everyone’s endings ://

I can't believe it's over。 。 。 I'm so fucking upset 😭 I could've read 100+ volumes of Legoshi getting himself into insane conflicts。 Overall I loved this entire series, it never disappointed me。 I can't believe it's over。 。 。 I'm so fucking upset 😭 I could've read 100+ volumes of Legoshi getting himself into insane conflicts。 Overall I loved this entire series, it never disappointed me。 。。。more

The copy was kindly given to me by Netgalley and the publisher for review。 All opinions are my own。 I really enjoy this series。 Its fun, entertaining and you can follow even if you don't read them all completely in order- I read this out of order so I could review and still got the gest of what was going on。 The copy was kindly given to me by Netgalley and the publisher for review。 All opinions are my own。 I really enjoy this series。 Its fun, entertaining and you can follow even if you don't read them all completely in order- I read this out of order so I could review and still got the gest of what was going on。 。。。more

This is a review of the entire series3。5 stars but rounding down。 I liked a lot of the characters and there were some really cool plot points but the story started to meander。 In the end the story felt like it wrapped up too fast and some plot points brought up earlier where abruptly ended or left hanging。 I would still read another series by Paru though, the story had a lot of heart and a lot of great art。

A journey。 Wrapped up pretty good。 I think my fave character is Gosha。

The end of an era。 The end of a hyper fixation 😭 I really liked the ending。 They had me in the first half, I’m not going to lie。 But all things considered I’m very happy。 I’m going to miss these characters and I had fun going along for the ride for 22 volumes。

Quite the anti-climatic ending to a 22-volume series。 Only one relationship arc was resolved and it wasn’t even a happy ending, the rest is left to assumptions。 There was a LOT of potential for this universe that was not exercised。 I know Itagaki wants to write more inside of it, but I feel like using that as a tool in this series could have packed way more of a punch or given way to a more exciting ending。Also, the chapter she included in the back that the editors had her cut for length should Quite the anti-climatic ending to a 22-volume series。 Only one relationship arc was resolved and it wasn’t even a happy ending, the rest is left to assumptions。 There was a LOT of potential for this universe that was not exercised。 I know Itagaki wants to write more inside of it, but I feel like using that as a tool in this series could have packed way more of a punch or given way to a more exciting ending。Also, the chapter she included in the back that the editors had her cut for length should have been left in — it would have been much more meaningful of a read and really given a final kiss on the cheek for our boy。 。。。more

We're finally at the end of Beastars, and I've got a lot of thoughts。 Strap in。The non-spoiler version is that overall this series is really frustrating。 It sets up an interesting premise and world in the early chapters - but as the story goes on it turns into much more of a standard shonen plot of Legoshi just taking down increasingly more difficult bosses until he finally beats the final boss。 If you were sucked in by the romantic conflict in early volumes, that's almost entirely abandoned by We're finally at the end of Beastars, and I've got a lot of thoughts。 Strap in。The non-spoiler version is that overall this series is really frustrating。 It sets up an interesting premise and world in the early chapters - but as the story goes on it turns into much more of a standard shonen plot of Legoshi just taking down increasingly more difficult bosses until he finally beats the final boss。 If you were sucked in by the romantic conflict in early volumes, that's almost entirely abandoned by the time we get to the end here。Spoilers now。(view spoiler)[Ultimately, this story opened with such a fantastic premise and interesting conflicts that it wasn't able to fully deliver on。 The ending is where everything culminates, because you have this contrast of some conflicts being handled in a cartoonishly simplistic way, while others are treated more seriously。 The way the black market and carnivore/herbivore conflict was handled was one of the worst things about the ending。 Legoshi just fights a group of competitors in the King of Iron Fist Tournament, and whoever wins gets to rule the Black Market。 Like I said - a really cartoonishly simplistic way of handling this。 And then we get a nugget at the end that the sea is just going to start supplying fish to carnivores to help stave their hunger and prevent attacks。 Convenient! We do sort of address the conflict by having everything laid out in the open and herbivores and carnivores come together but also not really。 The series starts asking all of these deep questions about what a world like this would actually look like - one where half the population literally wants to eat the other 90% of the time - but then towards the end of this series all the answers become very simplistic。That brings me to the whole fucking momentum of the entire first chunk of this series: Legoshi and Haru's relationship (and by extension, herbivore/carnivore relationships as a whole)。 By the end, these relationships are still stigmatized。 That's realistic that a cultural issue like that wouldn't get solved after one night。。。but all these other issues do so it's like?? Haru is also just barely in this fucking series and only exists as motivation for Legoshi。 I'm not a shipper but just objectively speaking, Luis did more for Legoshi and was the sole reason he won two critical battles in this series。 (I'm also not sure what to make of this, but also like many shounen series all the main female characters just exist in that motivator on the sidelines role - the only one who doesn't also betrays Legoshi even if she redeems herself in the end)。 I can't stress enough that the entire thing that kept the beginning of the manga going and set up the main conflict of the series is a complete footnote through most of it。 Haru pops back up at the end to remind us she exist, and imply that she and Legoshi will be together now - although, not in a very public capacity, since that's still taboo。 I honestly would've been fine if this series just had no "easy answer" for the herbivore/carnivore conflict because there's another series set in this world - if it at least gave us like an actual storyline for Haru and Legoshi!Louis' storyline is incredibly unsatisfying。 He becomes the leader of a company he didn't want to run, married to someone he didn't want to marry, but following tradition instead of bucking it (no pun intended)。 Our other characters aren't even worth mentioning because we don't follow up on most of them。 I'm assuming this will be addressed in the other series set in this world, but if it's the main series it would be nice to at least check in with the huge cast of characters we've been introduced to over this time。I'm kind of torn on Beastars overall - because I think for many people you're going to find that all of the things that made the first volumes and first season of the anime interesting and set up all these potential storylines are pushed aside。 But I also can't say that it was BAD necessarily。。。just a much more generic shounen story about a guy getting more and more powerful after each fight with this animal backdrop。(hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

A mediocre end to a series that for me has really dropped off in quality from the halfway point。 Ever since the series left the bounds of the school, I think the series lost a lot of its direction as Itagaki had to world build the rest of the society and continuously throw new obstacles in Legoshi's way。 I feel like the cast of characters expanded too much and the endings for most of the characters we first met - Jack, Haru, and Juno - weren't given well developed endings。 Overall, despite how m A mediocre end to a series that for me has really dropped off in quality from the halfway point。 Ever since the series left the bounds of the school, I think the series lost a lot of its direction as Itagaki had to world build the rest of the society and continuously throw new obstacles in Legoshi's way。 I feel like the cast of characters expanded too much and the endings for most of the characters we first met - Jack, Haru, and Juno - weren't given well developed endings。 Overall, despite how much I enjoyed Beastars when it began, I was let down by the ending。 。。。more

I really hate to say goodbye to these characters。 It was an absolute rollercoaster from start to finish and I loved it so much。 Though now I'm very curious as to how the final season of the anime is going to go。 I really hate to say goodbye to these characters。 It was an absolute rollercoaster from start to finish and I loved it so much。 Though now I'm very curious as to how the final season of the anime is going to go。 。。。more

A truly lovely ending to this series。 I really like how the final conflict resolved, and how we get to see a little of what happens in the future of this world。 I think that we will get more of a look at this in Beast Complex Vol 2, which I am looking forward to。 Legoshi has truly been a fun character to follow along his ups and downs throughout the series。 I would definitely pick up more from this mangaka in future!
